Payroll and Accounts Supervisor £25k – £29k

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, who has experience in Payroll and Finance. They are urgently seeking an individual with a ‘can do’ attitude, a pro-active approach to work and problem solving, and the ability to work on your own initiative for an immediate start.

The ideal applicant will have Payroll and Purchase Ledger knowledge with a well-rounded knowledge within a busy finance department and possess strong SAGE and IT skills with good knowledge of Excel.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Processing a 4-weekly payroll for up to 250 staff for fixed salary AND hourly rate wage employees including producing the calculations for Sickness, Bank staff holidays, Isolations, Overtime payments and Maternity pay.


  • Ensure the accurate calculation, production and distribution of invoices on a four-weekly basis to Customers and Local/Health Authorities as required


  • Process and reconcile remittances for Local/Health Authority and Private Customer payments


  • Ensure the accurate preparation and submission of electronic call data for Local Authorities as required on a weekly basis, including amending dual funded packages to avoid double payment of private or direct payment hours


  • Process and reconcile Local/Health Authority remittances and process and respond to Error and Tolerance reports in a timely manner


  • Deal with any incoming queries or complaints regarding Invoices or Credit Control


  • Assisting with HMRC submissions, pension administration and submissions and maintaining accurate employee and payroll records


The successful candidate will have/be:


  • Previous experience supporting in the collation of payroll


  • Confident excel and systems user including strong working knowledge of SAGE Payroll and SAGE Accounts


  • Ideally studying toward AAT qualification or equivalent


  • Confident communicator, both verbal and written


  • Able to adhere to strict deadlines


Previous experience working with both Private Customers and Local Authorities would be a distinct advantage for the successful applicant.
